The veteran social activist, Anna Hazare has upped his fight against corruption by protesting in Delhi in support of Lokpal bill. Lokpal bill is supposed to stop the corruotion by politicians at states and center. After mass scale scams like 2G and CWG, the need of having one such bill is immensely being felt like never before.

The Jan Lokpal Bill requires that investigations into any case should be completed within a year and the trial should get over in next one year so that a corrupt person could be sent to jail within two years of complaint and that his ill-gotten wealth is confiscated.
But according the various experts on the subject, the current lokpal bill lacks the necessary teeth for curbing the corruption. The proposes mandates in the bill, makes it just a titular institution, which is being erected just to make the public feel that govt. is taking some major steps in this area!
The Lokpal Bill which has been tabled in the Parliament eight times since 1968 has not been passed and has many loopholes. It does not seek to investigate politicians. Therefore, Anna's demand is to implement the strong Jan Lokpal Bill so that charges against corrupt politicians could be framed.

Anna is getting phenomenal response and support from the public in this initiative. People from all walks of life have come and sit with him in Delhi. The veteran social activist, who was also the key to enactment of the the RTI Act in India, observed a fast in front of Gandhi's statue at Phoolbagh and spinned charkha.
